Insurance Surveillance Investigation
A workers’ compensation claims examiner referred over a surveillance
investigation regarding a particularly “high exposure claim.” The subject
was allegedly Temporarily Totally Disabled (TTD) and receiving weekly TTD
checks from the insurance company. The claimant’s attorney was arguing for
permanent disability and the claim was expected to cost the insurance
company over $250,000. Our office conducted a surveillance investigation
over a several month period of time. The claimant was followed to the
Mission Bay area where we observed her biking, dancing and roller-blading
around the sidewalk at the bay. The subject was also followed to a nearby
health club where we confirmed her membership. We were able to obtain
several hours of documented video evidence on the subject showing her
engaged in strenuous physical activities with a Digital 8 Camcorder and our
concealed camera. The evidence we obtained showed that the claimant was not
disabled and saved the insurance company several hundred thousand dollars.
General Background Investigation
A mother and father were concerned about their daughter’s relationship with
her current boyfriend and possible “fiancée”. The mother came into our
office and wanted information regarding the boyfriend’s financial, criminal,
and civil history. Our office conducted a comprehensive background
investigation into the boyfriend’s personal history. The parent’s
suspicions proved to be correct. Our investigation revealed that the
boyfriend was not being truthful with their daughter. Our office found
extensive criminal records on the boyfriend. We also obtained information
regarding his assets and properties. When the boyfriend was confronted with
the evidence of his criminal and financial background, he admitted he had
lied. The relationship continued on new grounds.
Domestic Surveillance
A client contacted us because he was “feeling” his wife was not being honest
with him. She informed him that her therapist recommended that she “go away”
for the weekend and spend some quality time at a spa. We were asked to
perform surveillance on the wife during her weekend getaway and to determine
if she was, in fact, alone. The subject was followed to a local Spa Resort
during her weekend get away. We were able to verify that she was not alone
at this resort. Our investigation provided the information that allowed our
client to put his mind at ease and gave him the information he needed to
take affirmative action.
Corporate Due Diligence
A client was negotiating the buyout of their own company with a larger
corporation. They needed a comprehensive corporate due diligence
investigation to determine what information was “out there” and otherwise
might discourage the potential buyer from acquiring their firm. More
importantly, they needed the information “yesterday” so they could
effectively negotiate with the potential buyers. Our staff provided the
client with a timely, thorough, and comprehensive report on the company’s
own corporate background. We provided information regarding our client’s
credit rating, assets, civil suits, tax liens, judgments, UCC filings, news
paper articles and a variety of other data which our client was unaware
even existed The investigative report enabled our client to clean up their
corporate history and successfully resolve the potential buyer concerns
regarding outdated public information. Their negotiations were
successful. |
